What? I don't have to do any planning? You're doing it all for me?
Yep, that's right, we are doing all the hard work of planning so you can be present for the wonder.
We will have the first unit of daily lessons available to you by mid August 2020.
Will my child be learning online?
No. Daily Wonder will be an online home learning hub for parents to access daily curriculum, expert guidance and peer support. Our mission is to empower parents to provide integrated, creative, hands -on curriculum for their home learners that meet grade level learning outcomes.
I love the idea of home learning, but it seems overwhelming.
Daily Wonder understands the joy and excitement, as well as the challenges of organizing and setting up optimal scheduling for the unique needs of your own family. We will provide you with a menu of all the important ingredients that make up an integrated and holistic week of learning. On the Home Learning Hub, you will simply choose from each part of the menu, and you will be ensured a well-balanced learning experience.
Through a daily 1 - 2 hour morning academic lesson, and meaningful work and activities done in and out of the home, Daily Wonder will provide the building blocks to create your own daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly lesson schedule to suit your home learning needs.
I want my child to have an education that is reflective of the diverse human experience.
Yes! This is an essential part of education. Daily Wonder integrates folktales, myths, religious stories, legends and historical perspectives from around the world. Children who follow Daily Wonder through the grades will discover many of the major cultures and religions that helped shift human consciousness over the ages. Through hands-on, creative curriculum that follows the human story through these major shifts, children naturally come to honor and appreciate the diversity of the world, while at the same time recognizing similar shifts happening within themselves.
I like the sounds of simplified home learning without the pressure, but I need to know that my child will be ready for high school and post-secondary education.
Absolutely! Timing is everything! Daily Wonder instills a love of learning, and a curiosity about the world. These are the main ingredients that create a life-long learner. In our previous work we celebrated the success of many students who transitioned to high school and post-secondary education. The feedback from their teachers was that these children stand out as inquisitive, disciplined, focused, and engaged in the learning process. The young child learns through hands-on activity and curriculum that nourishes their imagination. Learning experiences that ignite wonder become the seed for future high level thinking.
How do I create a home learning experience that honours my own child's frame of reference?
Daily Wonder uses story as the foundation for curriculum delivery. Studies have shown that a child measures their own potential against possibilities presented to them through experience or story. With this in mind, Daily Wonder has reached out to colleagues across the globe to help build a library of resources that reflect the many experiences of diversity, and maintain the integrity of the lesson objectives. You will be able to choose from among hundreds of stories to best reflect your child's individual experience.
What if, as a parent, bringing Daily Wonder to my child, connects me to my own path of self-development?
Bringing Daily Wonder to your child means awakening your own connection to the wonder of the world. This happens naturally as you immerse yourself in the daily lessons. Daily Wonder curriculum offers parents an opportunity to self reflect with weekly questions.
I'm looking for a curriculum that nurtures my connection and attachment to my child.
We know that the primary and most important relationship is that of a child to parent. In our modern times of fast-paced living, a certain level of anxiety has become the new norm. Daily Wonder home learning gives you permission to slow down and take a deep breath!
I want to create a home life that feels peaceful.
Rhythm forms the healthy foundation for your child’s learning experience. With a predictable and steady routine, children thrive and unfold. Based on our understanding of child development, our experienced teachers have designed a fully integrated education with overlapping core subjects, woven with artistic expression and rich in culturally diverse stories and music. We will offer guidelines and suggestions for how to create a nourishing, home based rhythm that feels natural to your family life.
Sometimes it can be challenging to establish a rhythm and routine, but we promise that if you dedicate yourself to building this Daily Wonder routine, after 6 weeks, you will notice a home life with more peaceful moments, more gratitude and more opportunities for growth.
I want to create a home learning environment for my child, but I also want them to find community.
Through our years of class teaching and guiding families, we are inspired by the emphasis on community. Therefore, we continue to be dedicated to building conscious community and with the launch of our Home Learning Hub in January 2021 we will offer guidance around connecting with other Daily Wonder home learning families. Cultivating social renewal, a deep reverence and care for humanity, and navigating social relationships with compassion and consciousness, is at the root of Daily Wonder. Community and the individual’s role within the community is also the foundation of Indigenous values. We want you to see how inter-generational gatherings of family members, along with neighbourhood activities and Daily Wonder community gatherings and celebrations can become part of your rich home learning experience.
How can I uncover my child’s gifts and inspire them to follow their dreams?
Daily Wonder is influenced by First Peoples Principles of Learning and Waldorf education, to name a few, and therefore acknowledges the spiritual gifts that children bring with them. It is through meaningful education that we uncover these gifts. By awakening a child’s connection to creativity and self-expression, gifts unfold with wonder and joy.
